Golf Canada Foundation (GCF) inspires young players to build strong core values and character while living a healthy lifestyle. Since 2013 it has grown significantly and funded junior golf, women’s golf, high performance golf, sustainability, and heritage projects, while developing a national network of passionate donors and partners.
Golf Canada Foundation is seeking a Development Officer to grow it First Tee program – Golf Canada’s flagship program specifically designed for youth. It is new to BC and will begin its third season this spring. As a youth development program, First Tee provides youth with affordable and inclusive access to golf along with life-enhancing experiences through the game. First Tee – Canada offers accessible and inclusive programming at golf courses, schools, and community centres striving to ensure that the sport of golf reflects the diversity of Canadians.
First Tee exists to enable kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with life skills curriculum, First Tee creates learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids carry to everything they do. Founded in the USA in 1997, the program is now offered in eight countries.
What you bring to the role:
- 3 to 5 years’ progressive experience in fundraising in a not-for-profit organization ideally with raising 4 figure gifts
- You are a self‐starter and independent worker with strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems, etc.
- Experience in any of the following areas: corporate giving, individual giving, grant writing or special events OR sales experience
- As an outgoing person, you thrive on building new relationships. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to establish trust and confidence of prospects quickly and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong budget management
- Advanced skills in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, Raiser’s Edge or related fundraising database system
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel: lower mainland; Vancouver, Surrey, Richmond, Coquitlam, Victoria, Burnaby
- Flexible work hours: The demands of this position may require hours of work to vary to meet the objectives of
employment. Due to the nature of this role, there may also be the need to work some weekends. Head office in Delta, BC.
Education:
- University/college degree preferred with a focus in fundraising, business, marketing, sales or other relevant field or equivalent experience
Assets:
- Knowledge of golf
- Experience in sports philanthropy

Competitive compensation including:
- A competitive salary of $75,000 – $95,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Defined contribution of 6% up to a max of $5,000/year (matched by GCF)
- Vacation: starting at 2 weeks plus additional 2 weeks during “blackout” period in December holiday season
