Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHC) is a multi-site, multi-service organization driven by a mission to care, to respond, and to build community. With five sites in Kingston, two in Napanee, and several satellite, partner, and programming sites across the Frontenac Lennox & Addington Ontario Health Team, KCHC is a recognized champion for people who experience systemic barriers that impact their health. Together with a wide range of partners, KCHC works as a catalyst for change to develop healthy communities throughout the region it serves. KCHC has an annual budget of more than $40M, 250 highly dedicated staff, and many volunteers and students.

Ideal CEO Qualifications

The new KCHC CEO will lead a dynamic, dedicated team in a complex, fast-paced, constantly changing, and often challenging environment. The successful candidate will therefore require a broad-based skill set and demonstrated expertise in several key areas:

  • A Master’s-level degree in business, public or health administration, health sciences, political science, or another relevant field
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to organizational and system problems, and to identify priorities among multiple projects and initiatives
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Strong financial and risk management skills, business acumen, and knowledge of fundraising
  • Experienced in managing a large, complex, multi-funder budget
  • Conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to establish and nurture relationships within KCHC, with governments, and with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations
  • Committed to working collaboratively and productively with community partners and other service providers
  • Capable of providing leadership within the Frontenac Lennox & Addington OHT
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Health and (Ontario) Ministry of Health funding streams, Ontario’s health system transformation process, and the OHT model
  • Ability to measure performance and outcomes as part of a comprehensive quality improvement program
  • Skilled at leading change management projects or initiatives, and committed to values-based change management
  • Effective at managing crises, including public relations aspects of crises
  • Experienced leading teams that support individuals with mental health and addictions challenges
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction for substance users
  • Familiarity with anti-oppression analysis and practice
  • Committed to promoting Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigeneity, and Accessibility
  • Awareness of the impacts of social determinants of health at the individual, community, and system levels
  • Experienced in promoting diverse perspectives and fostering creativity
  • Knowledge of Indigenous traditions, cultures, and values, and their importance to the CHC model of care
  • An ability to converse in both English and French would be an asset
